Le balcon Chez la Vache overlooks two freeways, one of which is one of the busiest in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. «Louis» generally aims the camera over the freeways to capture the ever-changing views of San Francisco Bay. Early last Thursday evening, the sound of sirens called «Louis» to the balcony where he saw why motorcycles are so dangerous... Prayers for the rider of this cycle who seems to have been grievously injured, as you will see in the photos.

The cycle is up. Emergency workers prepare to lift the cyclist onto the stretcher.
«Louis» did not actually see the accident happen, so it is unclear to him
what role the white car played in the wreck, There is no visible damage to the white car.
The truck behind the downed cycle (in front of the fire truck) was able to brake and prevent other cars in that lane from hitting the downed motorcyclist.
Firemen prepare to right the cycle while others treat the cyclist who is between the freeway divider wall and the white car.
The emergency workers are lifting the victim onto the stretcher.
The victim is now on the stretcher.
As the victim is secured to the stretcher, a CHP officer closes lanes while Albany firemen move the cycle across the freeway. This will facilitate the tow truck moving the cycle and allowing the CHP to re-open all lanes on the freeway. The accident happened at the height of the evening commute home.
Firemen and the ambulance crew begin moving the victim to the ambulance.
This image gives you an idea of the extent of the motorcyclists' injuries.

Good shots ad documentation. Yeah, on that bike there isn't much between you and other metal or pavement.
Hope the rider recovers...
From New Hampshire for tonight then Bangor!!!
I hope the motorcyclist will be OK.
With gas prices so high I can understand why they ride them.
When I use to drive the Southern California freeways I would see the motorcycles weaving in and out of traffic, it always looked dangerous. When cars do that at lest you sort of have some protection in case of a accident.
You live next to two freeways ? is the 101 one of them ?
That one is always busy.
cheers, parsnip
Parsnip, I-80 is directly below us. That is the one where the accident happened. Parallel to I-80 where we live is I-580. 101 cuts through San Francisco and Marin County, across the Bay from us.
My poor cleaner's only son was killed in an accident, him bike, verses big truck.
This is something I don't really need to see. :( Hope he was at least wearing a helmet.
