Sunday Bridges
Clic sur l'image pour l'agrandir
This early evening shot shows the construction crane above the suspension tower of the replacement for the cantilever section of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. «Louis» has given several rants about the delays and cost overruns in building this bridge. Today, he will not rant but comment that at least those who wanted an esthetically-pleasing design won out over those who wanted to opt for utility over beauty. From an esthetic standpoint, the new bridge will be quite pleasing..

Who cares about looks? Will it hold up in the next earthquake??!!
I forget about the earthquake problems out there. I would not want to be a builder there. It is bad enough just keeping up with the wind speed requirements here.
Me thinks I would like to be a steel worker on one of these. but alas I guess my chances of variable employment has come to an end. If I didn't do it yet, I guess I won't do it. When you picture a freighter leaving or returning, I want to be aboard as an able bodied seaman.But......
Great.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
Beautiful subdued light and colour in this shot, Louis. I like it very much.
Thanks for hosting.
Function is sometimes more important than form, but I don't think people in the area would like a bridge that's not as beautiful as GG.
Looks aren't everything ;)
