The Lanterns of Stanford University Hospital

These elegant lanterns are a fine feature of the design of Stanford University Hospital at Palo Alto, California. The pattern in the stonework is derived from an ancient American Indian symbol for good health. The main hospital building was designed by Edward Durrell Stone and opened in 1955.

These pendent lights are huge! Yet in scale with the building. I'm finding that I'm liking more and more concrete architecture from the 60s. This one from the 50s must be a ground breaker in style.

You come up with some neat stuff, along with a little US history and ancient history. Good pictures, I am not familiar with these at all. But I was raised under a rock. LOL

Have a great day out there. I am loving this isolation. hehe
