With traffic stopped because the lift bridge on High Street connecting Oakland to the island city of Alameda was raised to let a tall-masted sailboat pass on the estuary, «Louis» grabbed his trusty Nikon and snapped this shot. As Woody pointed out in the comments, you see a tugboat in the image; the sailboat was on the other side and is not visible.
See, he CAN post bridges other than the Golden Gate!

A neatly captured opening.
I love stuff like this. In Oklahoma all our bridges are stationary, except when a barge knocks a support out.
Ummm, that's a funny looking tall-masted sailboat, it has a strange resemblance to a tugboat ;-)
I think these old bridges are a work of art and engineering.
Yes, Woody, that is indeed a tugboat, but on the other side (and not visible in the photo) is the sailboat.
;-D
Surprise! Surprise! A different bridge. I wonder if the Golden Gate has gotten its feelings hurt. That is one impressive lift there. I have never seen a bridge quite like this one. genie
Yes he CAN publish another bridge, but I dont' think HE enjoyed it as much. I like using my imagination, so I saw a huge squarerigger instead of your run of the mill sail boat(If there is such a thing).
Thanks.
Lift bridges are fun to watch. We have one here in Minnesota in the Duluth Harbor. It's fun to see it go up and the big ships go under.
very cool capture!

Not sure if I will find a bridge today, but... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I'm sure there's such a bridge in Serbia, but I haven't a clue where.
Hey--is today your birthday? Bon anniversaire!
It is an impressive bridge to led the tall ships through.
Great timing on getting this shot, Louis! I wish you a Happy Birthday! Have a great day!
Good capture, Louis. Good to see another bridge... occasionally, but the Golden Gate is the grand old dame!
I need to go back & listen to Bridge Over Troubled Water.
