For many years, Albany Point was a dumping ground for construction waste. This dumping was banned in 1984. Since then, nature has slowly been reclaiming the point from the debris. The City of Albany is doing a restoration of part of the Point, as seen in the fenced off area visible in this image.

Nature will take care of itself, if only we let it be. Another pretty day in Cali eh?
It certaintly would make a nice park. The is a similar spit on the Everett waterfront that is used as a park and the only way to get there is by boat. the parks department has a small, people only ferry that takes you out there. It is used as a school to learn about all things in saltwater. MB
Don't you wonder a little about how they decided to place the fence exactly where they did? Why not further west, or the whole point for that matter?
Nice to be able to watch the grass grow there -:)
I wonder what kind of construction waste was dumped there and how that happened? Were the dumpers fined?
Nice to see the site is being fixed up, though. It may give you more room to play!
I am sure that it will eventually be back to its normal nature look. Excellent photo, and the water is nice and clear. Thanks for sharing. Anna :)
So many wonders but I kinda like the place.

Happy SSS---
