The stern of the
Cape Mohican, which you saw in "Louis's" post "See-through ship", is configured as an elevator whose function is to put heavy equipment ashore.
Cape Mohican is part of the
MARAD fleet. She landed rescue equipment after the Indonesian tsunami and has served in both Gulf Wars.
