Le 4 ème Juillet: Colombe, aigle ou dinde ?

July 4th: Dove, Eagle or Turkey

In "1776", Benjamin Franklin argues that the turkey should be our national bird.

Farms in Berkeley*? The Statue of Liberty in Paris?

* San Francisco Bay Area readers will understand this reference

Don't forget that the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States. Here is a model of "Lady Liberty" in la Seine in Paris, near la tour Eiffel. Gustav Eiffel engineered the supporting structure of "Lady Liberty". French sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi designed the statue and chose its site in New York Harbor. In case you missed it previously, here is a photo "Louis" took in Paris of the model for Lady Liberty's flame.

Fun clip; I vaguely remember seeing the movie 1776. Didn't it come out in the summer of 1976? Love the Statue of Liberty/Eiffel Tower photo! You've captured the two so perfectly! And yes, there are farms in Berkeley, or at least that's what the milk says.

Very appropriate as the "lady" was in deed an American immigrant.

Happy 4th and SWF as well.

Possibly the most famous immigrant too! A beautiful image, for all it stands for.

Very beautiful and informative photos, Louis!

I am now back, as you know, and trying to catch up on my blog visits.

Very soon, perhaps by the end of next week, I will be posting some photos of our Greek vacation, during which we were accompanied by a small Serbian traveler (mystery man...) who helped us see Greece through his eyes... Stay tuned...drop in.

Vos articles sont trés documentés, c'est un grand plaisir pour les paresseux d'avoir toute la documentation sous la main. Merci.
Have a Great 4th of July; Don't forget to catch the fireworks on pictures of the Golden Gate, if you can.

Louis, liked the clip from "1776". Very appropiate. Hope you and yours are enjoying this weekend. Just had the chance to peruse some of your other blogs - impressive and always interesting. Will be back for more. Liked the Studebaker file and have some San Francisco connections with that. Will comment there on that post.

A very great shot...I have seen this in person....nice....I am back from the wilds of Montreal......and Niagara Falls. I will try and catch up over the next couple days.....I understand if you are busy on a project. How are the fires? My BIL has been in Montreal and lives in Santa Barbara and is worried about his house as his neighbors called and wanted to know if they could retrieve their pets for them. The pets happen to be at a kennel but still....worrisome.
