ABC Mercredi - "V" - Visions d'enfer!

ABC Wednesday - "V"
Visions of Hell!

CONGRATULATIONS TO HILDA, author of "HAPPY AT HOME", Philippines, FOR BEING OUR 5,002nd VISITOR!

We don't know who #5,000 was, some of you overlooked the meter in the right sidebar. (It's the flags!) "Louis et Mme. la Vache began this blog on Maundy Thursday in March. We've been amazed and gratified by the reception you've given us! Many thanks from "Louis" et Mme. la Vache

"ABC Wednesdays" are hosted by Mrs. Nesbitt's Place

Last week on our "ABC Wednesday" Art Tour of Albany Point, we looked at a cheerful example of Urban Art on Albany Point. Today "Louis" gives you these examples of Urban Art on la petite péninsule , today's panels not being the happy fish we saw last week; instead they are Visions of Hell. Altogether, there are 24 panels on the northeast tip of Albany Point.

The title (on the board at the top of the panel) is too weathered for "Louis" to read. In this not-happy scene, we have a group being burned at the stake in the right background and a man on a leash about to be beheaded in the foreground.

Another nightmarish scene. A very unsettling element to most of these panels is the violence shown to women.

This panel is less violent by far than most of the rest of them.

"Louis" didn't exaggerate when he warned you that these are Visions of Hell!

Great shots and choises for V, Louis!

leslie a dit…

These are great shots and an obvious continuation from last week's Urban Art. The depictions truly are disturbing, aren't they?

Texas Travelers a dit…

It's art even though I find it disturbing.

Nice post Louis.

Our Victim is verifible,
as well as the other V.

Come Visit,

I'm going to make doubly sure that I don't go to hell! Wonderful art, great photos!

ellen b a dit…

Well they definately qualify for a v post! I wonder sometimes what these artists are like in everyday life...

Neva a dit…

a very interesting "V"collection...wait ...it is :V: this week right? I am so confused!

photowannabe a dit…

Very violent but perfect choice for the letter V. Not my style of urban art that's for sure.

Small City Scenes a dit…

I find these very strange and even weird. Not my favorites. thanks anyway. MB

Small City Scenes a dit…

Thank you----me too. MB

Migraine images indeed! I see why you called them visions from hell. Excellent choice and description for V. I couldn't find the hits counter, but congratulations . Her's to the following 5000.

Marie Reed a dit…

I looked for that sneaky little hit counter too. It's playing hide and go seek. Maybe it knew that I was planning on revisting and revisiting until I was the milestone.I like my milestones in marble and granite:)

Hilda a dit…

Aww, I missed being #5000 by 2. =(

These are visions of hell indeed. They got my tummy churning in protest.

Dina a dit…

Tres bizarre. A modern version of the medieval churches' portal stonework art that warned the non-literate folk of the torments that could await them in hell?
On a happier note, big congratulations on having 5000 happy visitors. Magnifique!

cocabixinhos a dit…

Amazing how violence can inspire such beautiful panels!!

Steven (Cavite Daily Photo) a dit…

wow! I really like your post Louis! Very very interesting. but I must admit, it was scary. That's the reason that made it interesting! Great Job!

Steven^^

You warned us well

Aileni a dit…

Diabolical ! Perhaps it is awell they are not as delineated as Bosch.
Violent indeed.

Miss_Yves a dit…

The title is well choosen !
I think that the third panel was made by another artist
because of its style and its
vivid colours .

This is a clever use of V. These artists definitely have some issues they are working out through their art. Interesting, but also disturbing.

Daryl a dit…

Very interesting and Vibrant Vs ... albeit Very Visually Vicious

Pat - An Arkansas Stamper a dit…

WOW! The artist has some serious issues! I can read a small portion of the "title" board in the first photo: the words "curse on," "women," "maliously," and "efforts of others." Maybe the artist is a male who lost a coveted promotion to a female. It's a disturbing commentary, nonetheless! A good "V", sir -- Visions, Vicious, Victims.

Dragonstar a dit…

I would not like to be able to see those from my window, however well painted they are.

Marie Reed a dit…

Nobody picked Viagra as a subject today. Does it count if I post a 'W' vintage postcard next week:)

The Texican a dit…

Thanks for coming by Pappy's today Louis. Artists are such tortured souls at times.

Ida a dit…

I was not sure if I dared visiting you today..... ;)
But, you warned me ahead, so i was prepared. ;)
The paintings are brutal and colourful.
Art can express just about everything.
Great V post!

Chuck Pefley a dit…

Quite obviously you've stumbled upon the long lost pastiglia di Dante! Wait until the Pope years this news!! Prepare yourself ... Swiss Guards will be deployed momentarily to collect this vivid vibrant violent voyeuristic evidence of the underworld existence!

RuneE a dit…

I hope you didn't find Louis la Vache in the Visions from Hell!

Liz a dit…

Oh, I'm not sure if I like those!

Tash a dit…

Very hellish indeed.

Congrats on visitor 5000! As for the pictures, well your pictures are good but your subject is a little unsettling!
